What You’ll Do

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as external general counsel for private businesses and public entities in all aspects of labor and employment law.
  • Provide expert guidance on key federal and state employment laws, including ADA, ADEA, FMLA, NLRA, Title VII, FLSA, and relevant state laws.
  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, handbooks, and other legal documents.
  • Engage in both proactive advising and defending employment claims through various stages of litigation, including investigation, pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial.
  • Offer clear, proactive communication and expert advice to clients, ensuring their legal needs are met with confidence.

Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Must be admitted to practice in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin and in good standing with the bar.
  • Proven experience or strong interest in traditional labor or employment law.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to connect with the community, professional organizations, and clients to help grow our practice.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, understanding the complexities of labor and employment law.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage client expectations effectively while building long-term relationships.
  • Confidence in providing sound legal advice with professionalism and competence.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to educating others, including through training sessions and seminars on labor and employment topics.

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Experience in litigation related to labor and employment matters
  • Two to six years of labor and employment law advising and/or employment litigation.
  • Familiarity with union negotiations and labor-management relations.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations.

Pay: $90,000 – $135,000.00 per year
