The Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing the firm’s day‑to‑day accounting activities, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable, Payroll, Billing, and general accounting support. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and administrative staff.

What You’ll Do

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the full Accounts Payable cycle, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure timely payments
  • Process Payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission
  • Maintain Payroll records, employee changes, and related reporting requirements
  • Prepare and issue client invoices
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding expenses, payroll, billing, and payment status
  • Reconcile accounts, credit card statements, and vendor accounts
  • Assist with trust/IOLTA transactions in accordance with legal and ethical requirements
  • Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities
    • Prepare distribute and file 1099’s with the state
  • Perform miscellaneous accounting tasks such as journal entries, expense tracking, and financial reporting support
  • Assist with audits, budgeting, and other projects assigned

Is This You?

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience; law firm or professional services experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Billing processes
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel and general financial reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills

Location: Stillwater, MN
Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: (60,000 – 72,000) depending on experience
