Eckberg Lammers is pleased to announce that Laura Isenor has joined the firm’s Municipal Prosecution group. Laura brings more than a decade of county prosecution experience, along with a distinctive background in educational rights advocacy and state-level regulatory oversight, to her new role.

Laura spent over ten years as a county prosecutor in Koochiching and Steele Counties, Minnesota, where she managed criminal and child protection cases and helped lead systemic improvements within the local court system. She later shifted her focus to educational rights advocacy, representing children receiving special education services and regularly training families and professionals on educational rights and law.

Most recently, Laura served as Chief Legal Counsel for the Office of Inspector General within the Minnesota Department of Education, where she provided legal support for fraud and child maltreatment investigations, guided the OIG’s overall operations, and led initiatives to strengthen investigative collaboration across state agencies. She also advised daily on state and federal data practices, ethics, and regulatory compliance.

Before attending law school, Laura worked with the Community Prosecution unit of the National District Attorney’s Association and later the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“Laura’s background gives her a rare combination of courtroom experience and deep familiarity with how state systems actually operate,” said Joe Van Thomme. “That perspective is a real asset to our municipal clients and to the communities we serve.”

Laura was recently appointed as a member of the Minnesota Council on Disability. Outside of her legal work, she volunteers with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and enjoys long-distance running, camping, painting, and spending time with her family.
