Learning objectives:
- Examine use of force laws.
- Learn how to articulate if you are involved in a critical incident.
- Examine civil lawsuits.
Description:
Use of force is the premier topic on every law enforcement officer's mind. Am I going to get charged? What if I am sued? These are common questions plaguing the entire profession. This course will examine use of force laws, look at critical incidents and ways to articulate if you are involved, and analyze less than lethal and all legal implications of using restraints. The second part of the course will examine a civil lawsuit and how to best prepare if this happens to you.

Instructor Qualifications
Imran Ali is an attorney and the Director of Law
Enforcement Education and Training for Eckberg Lammers. After serving
over seventeen years as a felony-level prosecutor in the state of
Minnesota, his extensive experience is recognized both in the courtroom
and community. Imran has prosecuted some of the most complex cases in
Minnesota. Working with victims of crime has provided Imran with the
passion needed to succeed in the courtroom. He has developed law
enforcement training programs that employ participates to serve their
communities with honor and integrity while being equipped with the
appropriate tools in decision-making. Imran has presented at prosecution
and law enforcement conferences nationwide.
