Employer Alert: St. Paul Earned Sick and Safe Time Ordinance
On January 19, 2023, Mayor Melvin Carter signed an amendment to St. Paul’s Earned Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. The Amendments include: employees working remotely in the City of St. Paul may now be covered regardless of an Employer having a physical location in the City, clarifying the Employer’s authority to use a calendar or fiscal year, providing protections against adverse employment actions pertaining to the use and accrual of Earned Sick and Safe Time, and a new frontloading provision allowing Employers flexibility on carry-over provisions.
