Overview

Overview

Originally from Stillwater, Minnesota, Mitchell Sell has been with Eckberg Lammers since 2014, when he started as a litigation and prosecution support assistant. Throughout his undergraduate program and law school, he returned to the firm to work as a summer law clerk. He also was instrumental in the establishment of the Stillwater Area High School Mock Trial team in 2013.  A summa cum laude graduate of Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska, Mitchell also clerked for the Sarpy County Public Defender’s Office in Nebraska, and can analyze both sides of a criminal case.

Now, Mitchell is an attorney in our Municipal Prosecution group and has a passion for being in the courtroom and advocating on behalf of victims. In addition to partnering with cities, Mitchell has been appointed a Special Assistant County Attorney in multiple jurisdictions and routinely prosecutes felony crimes in greater Minnesota. He has tried a wide range of cases to both the court and a jury, has litigated pretrial issues on the fourth, fifth, and sixth amendments, as well as argued several cases on appeal. With this experience, Mitchell has presented at several conferences on topics such as evidence management and qualified immunity, and routinely prepares trainings on legal updates for police departments when new laws are passed or new case law is decided.

When he is not working, Mitchell enjoys everything outdoors, from going hiking, to being on the water, or riding (and fixing) dirt bikes. He is continually working on his golf game and finds time for some pick-up hockey in the winter as well. Having recently picked up cooking, he enjoys discovering both new recipes and restaurants.

Although my passion is arguing cases to a jury, my core mission is to administer justice and promote public safety by partnering with law enforcement to enforce state and local laws through training, pre-charging consultation, and advocacy in court.
