Employer Legislative Alert: Safe and Sick Time
The Minnesota legislature is taking action applicable to Employers. Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate committees have heard and referred forward bills instituting an employer requirement to provide sick and safe time to employees. The proposed bills provides employees an hour of sick and safe time for every thirty hours worked. The House has also moved forward a bill providing for paid FMLA through a state program employers pay into alike to unemployment insurance. This bill has not been transmitted to the Senate. As currently drafted, there is NO exception based on Employer size for either proposal. Please stay tuned as developments continue and call with any questions this has created. |
