Join us for two immersive, back-to-back trainings that explore how history shapes today’s beliefs, systems, and relationships.

ATTENDEES: City Administrators, City Manager, City Clerks, Deputy Clerks, Human Resources, Other Municipal Government Employees

These are not traditional trainings. Through powerful storytelling and our interactive traveling museum exhibits, participants will engage in a hands-on, experiential journey that brings the past to life—and prompts reflection on the present.

Attend one or both – each session stands alone, yet together they offer a deeper journey.

Some Were Neighbors: Lessons from the Holocaust 

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This program is based on exhibit displays from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. Some Were Neighbors examines the choices and behaviors of ordinary Germans who witnesses the persecution and systemic deportation and murder of Jews from their communities and either actively or passively tolerated what they saw. How did neighbors, friends, and co-workers become complicit in the intimidation, humiliation, deportation, and eventual murder of millions of innocent people? Using historical images, film and stories from the Holocaust, facilitators will engage participants in a dialogue about the role each of us plays in today’s communities and the importance of core values in ensuring the integrity and vibrancy of democracy.

M2M: Memphis to Minneapolis –  American Stories of Cultural Change

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Journey through American stories from the birth of our country to the present day, uncover stories of resilience against oppression that reveal the roots of persistent inequalities and foster a deep understanding of diverse perspectives in America. This session will immerse attendees in M2M’s curated educational adventure, breaking free from traditional boundaries to explore the rich cultures woven into American’s fabric. Attendees will engage in a profound exploration that brings history to life, offering a new perspective on the issues facing communities today. It’s more than a history lesson; it’s an opportunity to build stronger, more connected communities for a brighter and more equitable future.
